Abstractcu_pdf.pdf

A comparison between support vector regression (SVR) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) multivariate regression methods is established showing the underlying algorithm for each and making a comparison between them to indicate the inherent advantages and limitations. In this paper we compare SVR to ANN with and without variable selection procedure (genetic algorithm (GA)).To project the comparison in a sensible way, the methods are used for the stability indicating quantitative analysis of mixtures of mebeverine hydrochloride and sulpiride in binary mixtures as a case study in presence of their reported impurities and degradation products (summing up to 6 components) in raw materials and pharmaceutical dosage form via handling the UV spectral data.

El-Moghazy, S. M., F. F. Barsoum, H. M. Abdel-Rahman, and A. A. Marzouk, "Synthesis and Anti-inflammatory Activity of Some Pyrazole Derivatives", Medicinal Chemistry Research, 2011. Abstractcu_pdf.pdf

A novel series of pyrazoles containing N-substituted benzenesulfonamides, 1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-thiones, 4-substituted-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiones and 2-substituted-1,3,4-thiadiazoles has been synthesized. Anti-inflammatory activity screening of some synthesized compounds was evaluated in vivo utilizing a standard acute carrageenan-induced paw oedema method in rats and the most promising prepared anti-inflammatory active agents 3, 8f and 10f were evaluated for ulcerogenic liability in rats using indomethacin as a reference standard. Molecular modeling studies were initiated herein in order to validate the attained pharmacological data and provide understandable evidence for the observed anti-inflammatory behavior.

A series of new pyrido[2,3-d][1,2,4]triazolo[4,3-a]pyrimidines with different substituents at position 3 were synthesized. The effect of the newly synthesized compounds was tested in vitro on human breast adenocarcinoma cell line (MCF7). Some of the synthesized compounds exploited potent antitumor activity, especially the 3-amino derivative 12 which displayed the highest activity among the tested compounds with IC50 equal to 3.74 ?g/mL.

Hanna, M. M., N. M. Abdelgawad, N. A. Ibrahim, and A. B. Mohammed, "Synthesis and Antitumor Evaluation of Some Novel Pyrrolizine Derivatives", Med Chem Res, vol. 21, pp. 2349–2362, 2011. AbstractCU-PDF.pdf

Pyrrolizine ring constitutes an important skeleton for many natural and synthetic compounds of diverse biological activities. Furthermore, it represents a key nucleus for the synthesis of many antitumor drugs Therefore, novel series of pyrrolizines, pyrimido[5,4-a]pyrrolizines and pyrido[3,2-a]pyrrolizineswere synthesized through different reactions. The chemical structures of all the synthesized pyrrolizine derivatives were determined by spectral and elemental analyses. Antitumor activity evaluation of all the prepared compounds was carried out using NR assay method against breast cancer cell line (MCF-7). The novel pyrrolizine scaffold 7 and all its prepared derivatives showed high antitumor activity comparable to that of doxorubicin.

Darwish, H. W., S. A. Hassan, M. Y. Salem, and B. A. El-Zeiny, "Three different Spectrophotometric Methods Manipulating Ratio Spectra for Determination of Binary Mixture of Amlodipine and Atorvastatin", Spectrochimica Acta, vol. 83, issue 1, pp. 140–148, 2011. AbstractCU-PDF.pdf

Three simple, specific, accurate and precise spectrophotometric methods manipulating ratio spectra are developed for the simultaneous determination of Amlodipine besylate (AM) and Atorvastatin calcium (AT) in tablet dosage forms. The first method is first derivative of the ratio spectra (1DD), the second is ratio subtraction and the third is the method of mean centering of ratio spectra. The calibration curve is linear over the concentration range of 3-40 and 8-32 ?g/ml for AM and AT, respectively. These methods are tested by analyzing synthetic mixtures of the above drugs and they are applied to commercial pharmaceutical preparation of the subjected drugs. Standard deviation is < 1.5 in the assay of raw materials and tablets. Methods are validated as per ICH guidelines and accuracy, precision, repeatability and robustness are found to be within the acceptable limit.

Background: Nonunion of the supracondylar area of the humerus is a very difficult area to treat. The Ilizarov method has been shown to be effective in the treatment of nonunion of the humeral diaphysis. However, there is little in the literature regarding the treatment of nonunion of the supracondylar area especially in post-infection cases.
