Dr. Ramy Karam Aziz is a professor and former head of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University. He earned his PhD from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis, USA in 2005.
His main research interests are microbiology and immunology, systems biology of microbial pathogens, microbial and bacteriophage genomics/metagenomics, and pharmacomicrobiomics.
He received the TWAS ARO Young Arab Investigator Award in 2010, Cairo University Incentive Award (جائزة جامعة القاهرة التشجيعية (2011, the Egyptian National Incentive Award جائزة الدولة التشجيعية (2011), Cairo University Award for Scientific Excellence جائزة جامعة القاهرة للتفوق العلمي (2015), the COMSTECH award in Life Sciences in 2017, the Makram Mehanny Award in 2020, and the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation Arab Researchers Award in Medical and Health Sciences in 2022.
His publications include 112 peer-reviewed articles, a book, 8 book chapters, 3 genome reports, 2 local articles, 17 conference proceedings.
