Bio

Dr. Meselhy is a Professor of natural products chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University (FOPCU). He received his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Toyama, Japan in 1994. For more than 15 years in Japan Dr. Meselhy developed a long professional and administrative experience. During 1996-1998, he worked as an advanced technology researcher at New Energy and Development Organization (NEDO) in Tokyo. From 1998-2000 he was a research promoting scientist at the University of Toyama, and then a visiting professor during 2001-2002. His research interests center around developing evidence-based herbal products. As of 2018, he has h-index of 22 in Scopus with more than 1839 citations to his work. He has given numerous invited talks and tutorials, and is a consultant to companies involved in herbal medicine and nutraceuticals. From 2009-2012 he became the Egypt's Scientific and Cultural Counsellor, and Director of the Education Bureau in Japan after serving as a Cultural Attaché at the Education Bureau in Japan from 2002-2005. From 2006-2008 he was the Director of the Center of Applied Research and Advanced Studies (CARAS) at FOPCU, and Coordinator of Japan-Egypt Year for Science and Technology (2007-2008) and then as a member of the executive committee of the project: Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST). Currently, he is an active member of the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) and the Egyptian Drug Research Council. Dr. Meselhy received an Incentive Award from the Medical and Pharmaceutical Society for Traditional Medicine in Japan in 1999, and then a State Award in Medical and Biological Sciences from the Egyptian Academy of Science and Technology in 2000.
