Ahmed Elbehairy

I have graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in September 2001 (BVSc. – Grade: Very Good). Few months later I was appointed as demonstrator of Parasitology. In 2005, I received my Master’s degree in Veterinary Sciences (MVSc – Parasitology) and then became assistant lecturer. In September 2008, I received my Ph.D. in Parasitology. The Ph.D. dissertation was titled “Molecular characterization and vaccine production against Fascioliasis in Egypt ". Part of the Ph.D practical work has been done in the Research Center of Tropical Disease (CIETUS) of University of Salamanca, Spain during a short term fellowship in Spain. Later, I was appointed as Lecturer of Parasitology and my Ph.D. dissertation was awarded the best Ph.D. dissertation in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (2008) from Cairo University. On a competition bases, I won a postdoctoral scholarship for 6 months working as a Visiting Scientist in United State Department of Agricultural (USDA), Maryland, USA.(April 2012- September 2012). During this period, I have been actively performing various standard cultural, serological and molecular procedures for isolation and identification of Toxoplasma gondii and Leishmania.

Area of expertise: Masters diagnostic workups and research, particularly in the area of serological and Molecular identification of different Parasites and Parasite immunology.
