Ayman, Salim, A. H., and T. Mohamad, Mostafa, "Wisdom and its relationship to positive self-talk and emotional intelligence among teachers of special education", مجلة العلوم التربوية كلية الدراسات العليا للتربية- جامعة القاهرة, vol. 31, issue 1, pp. 1-66, 2023. Abstract

Abstract:
Special education teachers need more attention and focus on some social and psychosocial aspects of their personality in the light of the difficulties they face in the field of special education. This research aims to determine the relationship between wisdom (self-knowledge, emotional organization, meditation, life skills, judgement) and both positive self-talk (miniaturization, adaptation, positive guidance) and emotional intelligence (personal competence, social competence, adaptabillity, stress management, generl mood, positive impression), and the predictability of wisdom through both self-talk and emotional intelligence with special education teachers. The sample consisted of 120 teachers, (71) male teachers and (49) female teachers with age average (36.4) from special education schools in Beni Sweif governorate. The descriptive method was used. The tools included wisdom scale, positive self-talk scale and emotional intelligence scale. The findings indicated a positive correlation between the dimensions of wisdom and positive self-talk. Also, a positive correlation between the dimensions of wisdom and emotional intelligence was observed. Both of positive self-talk and emotional intelligence are predictive variables of wisdom among special education teachers. This result supports research and treatment of some social and psychosocial variables of special education teachers. It also recommends further research in facilities and difficulties that face special education teachers.

Cheng, H. - L., S. C. Lam, J. Cruz, J. Almazan, F. Machuca-Contreras, D. H. S. John Cecily, H. Rady, I. Papathanasiou, F. Ghrayeb, M. Qtait, et al., Willingness to care for older people and associated factors in pre-registered student nurses: A multi-country survey study, , vol. 110, pp. 105279, 2022/01/26. Abstract

Background: Addressing nursing students' lack of interest in providing care for the aged population is a global challenge for nursing educators. Despite global interest in student nurses' readiness for older people care, almost all the literature has been identified from single countries, predominantly with high income per capita. At present, no study has been conducted to provide evidence-based data related to this topic from a multi-country perspective. Objective: The study's purpose was to examine the willingness to work with older persons and associated factors among student nurses from nine countries (or regions).
Design: This study utilized correlational and cross-sectional designs.
Settings: This was a multi-country survey study conducted in China, Chile, Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Greece, the State of Palestine (henceforth Palestine), the Philippines, and Saudi Arabia.
Participants: 2250 baccalaureate nursing students were recruited from nine universities in this study.
Methods: The survey that was used to collect data comprised four parts: socio-demographic data, attitude toward aging, older persons care perception, and willingness to work with such group.
Results: Respondents in five regions (including Mainland China, Greece, Hong Kong, Palestine, and Saudi Arabia) stated that older persons were the least favored group for future career choices. In comparison with mainland China, respondents in Chile, India, and the Philippines were significantly more likely to be willing to care for older patients, but those in Egypt and Greece indicated a lower tendency to choose this option. Favorable attitudes toward aging and older person care perception were significantly associated with having the willingness to provide care to gerontologic patients in the future.
Conclusions: Although attitudes toward aging and older person care perceptions have long been confirmed as important factors that are linked with willingness in caring for older people, this study adds that location is a more influential factor. Additional research in other countries is needed to advance the knowledge in this important area.

BACKGROUND: Lung cancer in men and women is considered the leading cause for cancer-related mortality worldwide. Anti-cancer peptides represent a potential untapped reservoir of effective cancer therapy.

METHODOLOGY: Box-Behnken response surface design was applied for formulating Alendronate sodium (ALS)-mastoparan peptide (MP) nanoconjugates using Design-Expert software. The optimization process aimed at minimizing the size of the prepared ALS-MP nanoconjugates. ALS-MP nanoconjugates' particle size, encapsulation efficiency and the release profile were determined. Cytotoxicity, cell cycle, annexin V staining and caspase 3 analyses on A549 cells were carried out for the optimized formula.

RESULTS: The results revealed that the optimized formula was of 134.91±5.1 nm particle size. The novel ALS-MP demonstrated the lowest IC50 (1.3 ± 0.34 μM) in comparison to ALS-Raw (37.6 ± 1.79 μM). Thus, the results indicated that when optimized ALS-MP nanoconjugate was used, the IC50 of ALS was also reduced by half. Cell cycle analysis demonstrated a significantly higher percentage of cells in the G2-M phase following the treatment with optimized ALS-MP nanoconjugates.

CONCLUSION: The optimized ALS-MP formula had significantly improved the parameters related to the cytotoxic activity towards A549 cells, compared to control, MP and ALS-Raw.

Ziadé, N., J. Rassi, B. E. Zorkany, C. Lopez-Medina, S. M. Gamal, S. Hlais, M. Dougados, and X. Baraliakos, "What is peripheral spondyloarthritis? Identifying proportion, phenotype and burden in post hoc analysis of the ASAS-PerSpA study", Seminars in Arthritis Rheumatism., vol. 55, pp. 152012 , 2022. Abstract

Background: Little is known about the prevalence, phenotype, and burden of peripheral spondyloarthritis (pSpA). The objective of the study is to compare the phenotype and burden of disease of pure pSpA to that of pure psoriatic arthritis (PsA), pure axial SpA (axSpA), and combined forms of SpA.

Methods: This is a post hoc analysis of 4,185 patients from the cross-sectional ASAS-Peripheral involvement in SpA (PerSpA) study. Patients were approached in 2 ways: the first approach was based on the rheumatologist's diagnosis (diagnostic approach) and the second one was based on the fulfillment of ASAS or CASPAR classification criteria (classification criteria approach). Demographics, disease phenotype, and burden were compared among pure pSpA, PsA, axSpA, and the combined forms.

Findings: The proportion of pSpA was 31.5% of SpA using the classification criteria approach and 10.3% using the diagnostic approach. pSpA was pure (i.e. without axSpA or PsA) in 16.8% of pSpA using the criteria, and in 62.3% using the diagnostic approach. Using classification criteria and diagnostic approach, respectively, pure pSpA patients had a high prevalence of peripheral joint disease (86 and 96%), synovitis (76 and 91%), and enthesitis (57 and 55%), a positive HLA-B27 in 65 and 59%, a high C-Reactive Protein level in 51% and inflammatory back pain in 52 and 42%. However, compared to pure PsA and pure axSpA, they had a significantly higher disease burden, but lower use of biologics using both approaches.

Interpretation: The proportion of pSpA varies when using the classification criteria or the diagnostic approach. pSpA occurred in a pure form less frequently than PsA and axSpA and had intermediate features but a higher disease burden.
