Professor Aboul Ella Hassanien (Short Bios)

Qualifications:
Dr. Aboul Ella Hassanien (Abo) received his B.Sc. with honors in 1986 and his M.Sc. in 1993, both from the Faculty of Science, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt, specializing in Pure Mathematics and Computer Science. In September 1998, he earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan.

Academic and Leadership Roles:
Dr. Hassanien is a Professor of Information Technology at the Faculty of Computers and Information, Cairo University, and the Founder and Head of the Scientific Research School of Egypt (SRSEG). He previously served as the Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information at Beni Suef University.
He has authored over 1,000 scientific research papers published in leading international journals and conferences, and has edited or authored more than 45 books in diverse fields including data mining, medical imaging, intelligent systems, social networks, and smart environments.

Member of the Specialized Scientific Council for Information and Communication Technology at the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), Egypt.
Collaborative researcher at the Computational Intelligence Laboratory, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Manitoba, Canada.
Chair of the Computer Science and Information Technology Division at the Egyptian Syndicate of Scientific Professions (ESSP).
Founder and President of the Africa Scholars Association in Information and Communication Technology.
Research Interests:
His research spans a wide range of areas including computational intelligence, medical image analysis, cybersecurity, animal identification, space sciences, telemetry data mining, and multimedia data analytics.

Scientific Excellence Award in Humanities, Kuwait University (2004).
Scientific Excellence Award in Technology, Cairo University (2013).
Honored as Best Researcher at Cairo University (2013).
ISESCO Prize for Science and Technology (2014).
Medal of Sciences and Arts, First Class, awarded by H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt (2015).

Community Engagement:
Dr. Hassanien has organized over 40 workshops across Egyptian universities, promoting awareness of the role of ICT in improving quality of life, particularly for marginalized groups such as people with disabilities, children, and the homeless.
His initiatives include:

National celebrations for people with disabilities under the theme “Partners in a World Without Barriers.”
Workshops on smartphone technologies for enhancing the skills of the visually impaired.
Conferences on the role of communication and social media in integrating people with special needs.
Awareness campaigns on internet safety for children.
Over 50 lectures delivered to young researchers across Egyptian universities on scientific research skills and ethics, many of which are available on SlideShare.
