Bio

I am Dr. Zainab Awad, Associate Professor of Astrophysics in the astronomy, space science, and meteorology department, faculty of science, cairo university.

I was awarded the Cairo University Encouragement Prize in Basic Science (Physics) for my research progress in Astrophyscis in 2017.

I finished my PhD from the department of Physics and Astronomy at University College London (UCL) in the United Kingdom, in 2010, in the field of Astrophysics. My thesis studied the chemical evolution of hot corinos around low-mass star forming regions in our galaxy.

My research interests are:

  1. low-mass star formation
  2. physics and chemistry of the interstellar medium
  3. modelling Surface Hydrogenation Reactions on interstellar grain surfaces
  4. Galaxy Groups
  5. Galactic photometry
  6. galaxy clasification
  7. Astrophysical applications of the restricted three-body problem
  8. Supernovae photometry and spectroscopy
  9. Atmospheric Science: satellite and GPS data analysos of water vapour content above Egypt

I've collaboration with researchers from different universities around the world in the UK (UCL, OU), in the Netherlands (Leiden), Japan (Hokkaido University). In addition to local collaborations with researchers from Zewail City and The National Research Institute for Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG).

I've many international publications in highly ranked astronomy journals
