Statement of Management Philosophy

This statement covers my managerial vision and elucidates how I fulfill the duties and responsibilities of my leading positions and it describes my leadership aspirations, as follows:

  1. Supporting the institution in all matters of strategic planning, risk management, and development of the institution.
  2. Preparing budget plans, proposals, and evaluation reports, and communicating with funding agencies.
  3. Supporting the recruitment planning, including supporting infrastructure and resources.
  4. Planning and managing the development process for new research groups, including supporting infrastructure and resources.
  5. Liaising with relevant stakeholders from ministries, foundations, universities, and research institutions, including key partners nationally and internationally.
  6. Preparing presentations and organizing scientific events.
  7. Supervising the committees of the department, managing personnel, and budgeting.
  8. Managing daily administrative tasks as well as the documentation and reporting tasks.
  9. Supporting scientists in acquiring extramural funding for our research programs jointly with international universities and research centers. Besides, managing and developing internal funding programs.
  10. Establishing strong partnerships with the industry, where the research projects are designed to solve emerging industrial problems. The core of our research must focus on making innovative prototypes and developing novel techniques to solve emerging industrial problems and then applying for patents which should be commercialized to create new exporting opportunities for a strong and sustainable economy. Therefore, I work closely with industrial partners, governmental organizations as well as non-governmental organization (NGOs). Further, I boost research proposals to get our research projects externally funded from extramural funding agencies and authorities. An important issue is popularizing the results of our research and communicating them in plain language to the society through different media.
  11. Founding small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) responsible for processing the products developed based on the patents of the university and then marketing these products.
  12. Integrating undergraduate and graduate students into research projects where they can conduct their B.Sc. theses or graduation projects, M.Sc. theses and PhD dissertations. Besides, the students can attend training in industry with our industrial partners. This will also create job opportunities for our students.
  13. Fostering the implementation of advanced teaching technologies and approaches, such as: MOOC, Moodle, E-learning, project-based pedagogy, problem-based learning, educational module, group work, and self-learning. Besides, further technologies such as Blackboard would help in creating a hybrid teaching system, where teaching would be partially through online learning platforms.
  14. Establishing partnerships with industrial sector for developing curricula and training the students and creating job opportunities after graduation.
  15. Developing the curricula based the labor market’s requirements and linking the curricula with the global requirements especially energy and water. An important key issue is marketing the curricula.
  16. Endeavor for curricula accreditation from international accreditation entities.
  17. Establishing joint master’s degree programs, Capacity Building, and student and staff mobility with international universities.
  18. Twinning with universities having an international ranking within the best 50 worldwide, and further establishing partnerships with national and international scientific institutions.
  19. Creating extension and outreach programs in cooperation with public and private sectors for training their staff and cadres in our institution.
  20. Establishing “consulting offices” which belongs to the University to be a contact point between the academia and the industry, where it is responsible in developing solution for industrial problems.
  21. Contributing to national and international initiatives and projects through contracting with the government and public sector.
