Biography
Dr. Hosny is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Statistics, and the founding director of the Student Mentorship and Career Counseling Unit (SMCCU), Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University. She obtained her PhD in Applied Statistics from Cairo University in 2014. She has two Master degrees. The first is a Master in Science (MSc) in Applied Statistics in 2007 from the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University. The second is a Mid-Career Master in Public Administration (MC/MPA) in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School of Government in 2012 in the concentration: leadership and innovation.
She received several academic excellence awards throughout her life. The most recent are two distinguished academic and community awards from Harvard Kennedy School and co-founded the Arts for Leadership and Public Policy Council in 2012.
She worked as a short-term consultant at the World Bank Institute, Innovation Practice Program, in Washington DC. She also worked for two years as a senior researcher in development issues at the Egyptian Cabinet's Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC). She is a lso a coauthor of the Egypt Human Development Report 2015.
She is a member of the Springer author and reviewer network. Since May 2014, she has been the contact person of Harvard Alumni Association in Egypt. In addition, she belongs to the Ashoka Nominators Network.
In addition to her academic work, she is a social and development activist, volunteering in several NGOs and community initiatives. She is an alumna of the prestigious International Visitor Leadership Programs (IVLPs) by the USA Department of State, both in 2008 and 2010. She is a certified Leader in Interreligious Understanding (LIU) from organizations in Denmark and three Arab countries. She is a certified trainer from Sanabel Network Arab World. She was a mentor at ASPIRE Woman at Microsoft for one full year 2014. and at the International Relations Office at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University.
