Abdalla, M., A. Rezayee, D. Cassan, M. V. Ierssel, C. Holdenried, and S. Sadr, DECISION FEEDBACK EQUALIZER AND TRANSCEIVER, , no. 20120201289: Gennum Corp, Rambus Inc, August, 2012. Abstract

A decision feedback equalizer, transceiver, and method are provided, the equalizer having at least one comparator, the at least one comparator comprising a first stage, comprising a main branch having two track switches with a resistive load, an offset cancellation branch, a plurality of tap branches with transistor sizes smaller than the main branch, in which previous decisions of the equalizer are mixed with the tap weights using current-mode switching, and a cross coupled latch branch; and a second stage, comprising a comparator module for making decisions based on the outputs of the first stage and a clock input, and a plurality of flip-flops for storing the output of the comparator module.

Fahmy, N., A. Egiza, M. Badr, N. Morcos, J. Diclaro, and E. Abd-ElSamie, Deciphering pyrethroid resistance in Cx. pipiens (L): Implications of cytochrome P450; expression profiling and regulatory microRNA, , vol. 52, pp. 101579, 2020/04/01. Abstract

Over the past decades, the extensive use of pyrethroids insecticides for vector control has resulted in the development of insecticide resistance. Cytochrome P450 has been recognized to play a critical role in the metabolic detoxification of insecticides. In the current study, Culex pipiens mosquitoes were collected from Giza Governorate in Egypt and tested for insecticide susceptibility against deltamethrin. First detection of Knockdown resistance gene (Kdr) mutations in field collected mosquitoes was performed. Activities of cytochrome oxidase P450 detoxification enzyme that synchronized with the resistance development, was assessed. Expression profiles of cytochrome P450s and their putative corresponding regulating miRNAs, which was previously reported in Cx. pipiens pallens were evaluated in pyrethroid resistant field-collected Cx. pipiens using RT-qPCR and stem-loop RT-qPCR, respectively. Specific stem-loop reverse transcription primers and forward primers were designed for miRNAs profiling. Our results elucidated the pyrethroid resistance development and revealed its relation to the metabolic and target site modification mechanisms with a first report of L1014F-kdr mutation detection. RT-qPCR results have showed an up-regulation in the expression of the studied P450 transcripts. Negative correlations were found between the expression of P450s and their regulatory miRNAs except for CYP9J35, where positive correlation was found with its corresponding miR-13. Interestingly, our data was the first to detect negative correlation between miR-285 and its putative CYP6Cp1 target gene. These findings highlighted the significance of identifying P450 gene along with regulatory miRNAs as a key mechanism implicated in pyrethroid resistance in field Culex vector population. The elucidation of this mechanism would shed light on the development of insecticide resistance and would help in shaping strategies to combat such vectors.

Decimal floating-point multiplication is important in many commercial applications including financial analysis, banking, tax calculation, currency conversion, insurance, and accounting. This paper presents a fully parallel Decimal64 floating point multiplier compliant to IEEE Std 754-2008 standard for floating point arithmetic. The proposed multiplier possesses novel methods to target low latency. The proposed design is based on previously published fixed point multiplier that uses a novel BCD 4221 recoding for decimal digits to improve the area and latency of the partial product generation and the partial product reduction tree. Several enhancements are introduced to the design; the final carry propagation adder is implemented using a full parallel decimal adder with a Kogge-Stone prefix tree, the sticky bit is generated parallel to the shifter to reduce the critical path delay. The design is extendible to support Decimal128 floating point multiplication. The multiplier is hardware verified for functionality on an FPGA.

This paper presents the first hardware implementation of a fully parallel decimal floating-point fused- multiply-add unit performing the operation $\pm (A \times B) \pm C$ on decimal floating-point operands. The proposed design is fully compliant with the IEEE 754-2008 standard and supports the two standard formats decimal64 and decimal128. Furthermore, the proposed design may be controlled to perform the multiplication or the addition/subtraction as standalone operations. Our decimal floating-point FMA may be pipelined so that a complete resultant decimal floating-point is available each clock cycle.
