Hepatocellular cellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most challenging liver cancer subtypes. Due to lack of cell surface biomarkers and highly metastatic nature, early detection and targeted therapy of HCC is an unmet need. Galactosamine (Gal) is among the few selective ligands used for targeting HCCs due to its high binding affinity to asialoglycoprotein receptors (ASGPRs) overexpressed in HCC. In the present work, we engineered nanoscale G4 polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimers anchored to galactosamine and loaded with the potent anticancer curcumin derivative (CDF) as a platform for targeted drug delivery to HCC. targeting ability and bio-distribution of PAMAM-Gal were assessed via its labeling with the clinically used, highly contrast, near infrared (NIR) dye: S0456, with testing of the obtained conjugate in aggressive HCC xenograft model. Our results highlighted the targeted dendrimer PAMAM-Gal ability to achieve selective high cellular uptake via ASGPR mediated endocytosis and significantly enhance the delivery of CDF into the studied HCC cell lines. Cytotoxicity MTT assays in HCC cell lines, interestingly highlighted, the comparative high potency of CDF, where CDF was more potent as a chemotherapeutic anticancer small molecule than the currently in use Doxorubicin, Sorafenib and Cisplatin chemotherapeutic agents. In conclusion the proof-of-concept study using nanoscale PAMAM-Gal dendrimer has demonstrated its competency as an efficient delivery system for selective delivery of potent CDF for HCC anticancer therapy as well as HCC diagnosis via NIR imaging.

This paper presents a differential protection approach for large high quality power transformers that have
low inrush currents of about 3.14 times rated currents. Such transformers have low second harmonic level, which results in conventional differential protection malfunction. A scheme for internal faults and inrush currents discrimination based on both discrete Fourier transform DFT and discrete Wavelet Transform
DWT is proposed. The proposed method has been designed based on the percentage of the sum of wavelet transform coefficients D1 and fundamental differential current (based on a 1 kHz sampling
rate). It has been tested by extensive EMTP/ ATP simulations for different faults and switching conditions on El Tebbin Power Plant 220/21 kV generator/power transformer. It is proved that it has a high capability for discrimination even in the case of inrush with low second harmonic content and internal fault currents with high second harmonic component. All tests proved that the proposed scheme is reliable, accurate, and fast.

Increasing prevalence of Cryptosporidium raises the importance to explore different aspects of its infection. In the absence of reproducible in vitro culturing, animal model is the only experimental method to study Cryptosporidium. Our study evaluated Cryptosporidium infection using coproscopy, copro-antigen and copro-DNA for early detection of murine cryptosporidiosis. Hundred and forty albino mice (neonates and adult) were divided into two groups, control group received sterile PBS solution, and infected groups were inoculated with molecularly characterized Cryptosporidium parvum oocysts and further subdivided into three subgroups for infectious dose response detection. Mice fecal samples were collected every 4 h on the first day and then daily and examined for fecal oocysts, copro-antigen and copro-DNA. Four mice from each subgroup were killed at 12, 24 and 48 h post-infection (P-I), and their intestines were examined for cryptosporidial mucosal DNA. Cryptosporidium copro-antigen and copro-DNA were detected 4 and 8 h P-I in infected neonatal and adult mice, respectively, and intestinal mucosal DNA was detected after 12 h in both. Microscopy was able to detect oocysts 48 h P-I. Inoculated C. parvum oocysts were recovered in feces of infected mice without genotypic changes. Neonate mice showed higher susceptibility for cryptosporidial infection than adults without statistical differences for the given infectious doses. Both copro-immunoassay and copro-nPCR assays can early detect Cryptosporidium infection; however, nPCR was able to identify Cryptosporidium species, making nPCR a reliable biomarker for early detection in murine model.

This paper describes a graphical method of nonlinear circuit analysis. The method combines circuit analysis using driving-point impedances and signal flow graphs with distortion analysis using the Volterra series. The result is a method of distortion analysis which is more intuitive and flexible than traditional methods. The method is demonstrated in the analysis of a common-emitter amplifier in which the second- and third-order harmonic distortion ratios are determined. The method is also applied to comparing the distortion of different voltage buffer circuits based on an emitter follower and on a differential pair with unity gain feedback
