This paper presents rough sets generating prediction rules scheme for stock price movement. The scheme was able to extract knowledge in the form of rules from daily stock movements. These rules then could be used to guide investors whether to buy, sell or hold a stock. To increase the efficiency of the prediction process, rough sets with Boolean reasoning discretization algorithm is used to discretize the data. Rough set reduction technique is applied to find all the reducts of the data. Finally, rough sets dependency rules are generated directly from all generated reducts. Rough confusion matrix is used to evaluate the performance of the predicted reducts and classes. A comparison between the obtained results using rough sets with decision tree and neural networks algorithms have been made. Rough sets show a higher overall accuracy rates reaching over 97% and generate more compact rules.

A Fully integrated 4-element symmetrical TX/RX RF integrated circuit for 26-30 GHz 5G beam-forming system is implemented in 65-nm CMOS technology. Each array element is digitally controlled with 5.625° step and 2 dB gain step. The system employs a heterodyne architecture with 6 GHz intermediate frequency (IF). The up-conversion and down-conversion mixers are integrated on the same chip with a shared LO driver chain. The phased-array power combining/splitting is done using Wilkinson combiner/divider. The RFIC features 3.4 to 3.9 dB noise figure and -5 to -3.5 dBm IIP3 in RX mode, 18 dB maximum power gain and OP1dB of 14.7 dBm per chain in TX mode. The maximum root mean square amplitude and phase error of each array element is 0.25 dB and 1.5°, respectively. The RFIC area is 18 mm2 including pads and it consumes 240 mW per TX chain, 120 mW per RX chain and 174 mW for the LO amplifier with total power of 1.58 W from a 1.2 V supply.

Bandwidth constriction and datagram loss are prominent issues that affect the perceived quality of streaming video over lossy networks, such as wireless. The use of layered video coding seems attractive as a means to alleviate these issues, but its adoption has been held back in large part by the inherent priority assigned to the critical lower layers and the consequences for quality that result from their loss. The proposed use of forward error correction (FEC) as a solution only further burdens the bandwidth availability and can negate the perceived benefits of increased stream quality. In this paper, we propose Adaptive Layer Distribution (ALD) as a novel scalable media delivery technique that optimises the tradeoff between the streaming bandwidth and error resiliency. ALD is based on the principle of layer distribution, in which the critical stream data is spread amongst all datagrams thus lessening the impact on quality due to network losses. Additionally, ALD provides a parameterised mechanism for dynamic adaptation of the scalable video, while providing increased resilience to the highest quality layers. Our experimental results show that ALD improves the perceived quality and also reduces the bandwidth demand by up to 36% in comparison to the well-known Multiple Description Coding (MDC) technique.
