received the B.Sc., M. Sc., and Ph. D. degrees from Cairo University, Egypt, in 1982,1987, and 1991, respectively. Subsequently, he began work as a Lecturer of Power Electronics in Electrical Power and Machines Dept., Cairo University. From Sept. 1991 to Aug. 1992, he was visiting Professor in University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. From Sept. 1994 to Jan. 1995, he was visiting professor in United Arab Emirates University, United Arab Emirates. From 1996 to 2001 he was an Associate Professor in Cairo University, Egypt. From Jan. 2005 to June 2005, he was visiting professor in Sultan Qaboos University, Sultanate of Oman. Since 2001 he has been a Professor at Cairo University, Egypt. He was the head of power electronics group in the same university from 1996 to 2020. He was chairman of electrical power engineering department between Aug. 2014 and September 2019. . He has authored or coauthored more than 70 journal articles and refereed technical papers. During his tenure with Cairo University, he has supervised to completion 11 Ph.D. and 29 master's students.
