Highly accomplished research scientist and R & D director with over 20 years of broad-based experience managing research, development and deployment of software and hardware products and services.
Currently, I am working as an Associate Professor at the Systems and Biomedical Engineering Department, Cairo University. I am also the principal investigator of an STDF-funded project titled “Integrated Health Monitoring”. I am also a Reviewer for a number of international scientific journals such as: IEEE Transactions on Information Technology in BioMedicine, Journal of Engineering and Applied Science, and International Journal of Software Engineering.
I have spent two years for my postdoctoral studies in the Section for Biomedical Image Analysis (SBIA), Department of Radiology, University of Pennsylvania. I was involved in research and development in the brain image database (BRAID) project. I was also working as a senior design engineer and project manager, R & D department, Biomedical Division, International Electronics Co., Bahgat Group, Egypt. I led research teams working in several biomedical research projects like Congestive Heart Failure Detection and Association rules mining for medical information systems.
I have been conceptualizing and directing development of advanced global enterprise solutions for companies such as Coltec, Egypt and Zad Solutions, Egypt. In Coltec, I was involved in developing an Arabic spelling checker for the Arabic version of Microsoft Office® under MS Windows®. In Zad Solutions as a proactive and result-oriented leader expert in mentoring and motivating a dynamic team, I have been managing large projects such as developing and maintaining amrkhaled.net portal. I’m also heading the Engineering Process Group (EPG) adopting Agile Development Methodologies.
