Bio

I am Dr Mona Sobhy Siha, Professor of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt. I am working in this field since more than 30 years. I am the first woman in Cairo University to have MD (Medical Doctorate) degree in Occupational and Environmental Medicine; also I was the first woman to be the head of the department in Cairo University, Egypt (2007 -2010). I have many research works in the field of occupational Medicine.

I am teaching the curriculums of Master and MD degree in Occupational and Environmental Medicine including: lectures, seminars, scientific meetings, workshops and field visits.

I attended many national and international conferences.

I am the Chief Editor of the Egyptian Journal of Occupational Medicine.

I was "Temporary adviser" for WHO (World Health Organization).

I was the head of the department of Occupational and Environmental Medicine during the period 2007-2010.

I am the Chief Editor of the Egyptian Journal of Occupational Medicine.

 

Some of my activities during the period of heading of the department (2007 -2010):

- I participated in the organization of the workshop titled

Occupational Safety and   Health Standards for the General Industry, OSHA 511

(October 2008) and

OSHA 511- OSHA 501

( October 2009 and October 2010) in collaboration with  the      

 Department of Environmental Health, University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA.

- I participated in the organization of the workshop titled

“Continued Presence in Many Countries of Lead in Domestic Paints: A Growing Health threat to Children, Workers and others.”

which was held in the department of Occupational and Environmental Medicine Cairo university, Egypt in 25 October 2008 by Dr Scott Clarck;  Department of Environmental Health University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA.

-I participated in the organization of the workshop titled “

Occupational Health in Egypt: Present and Future”

(August 2010) in collaboration with School of Public Health, University of Illinois, Chicago, USA.
