Introduction to condensed matter physics (20-21)


Welcome to the academic year 2020-2021. It is my pleasure to teach you CMP. During our course, we will work together to cover several topics and learn many things. This course is divided into two parts. In the first part, we will work on the electronic structure of the crystal. In the second part, we will consider several topics in condensed matter physics and we will learn how to get the energy spectrum from Hamiltonian using 2nd quantization quantum mechanics.

Before starting the first lectures, it is recommended to "kickoff pre-quiz", if you score less than 6 it is recommended to read revise basic definitions about Crystal structure (Primitive Cell, Unit Cell, Wigner-Seitz Cell, Lattice with a Basis), Bravis lattice, Reciprocal lattice, Brillouin zone (Extended and Reduced) and Packing fraction.

After each lecture, the notes will be available on the Blackboard site.
