ABSTRACT

Background/aim: Jejunal atresia may present with a massive dilatation of proximal bowel. This dilated segment causes two problems; calibre discrepancy, when joined to the distal unused segment and hypomotility as it fails to pump intestinal contents across the anastomosis. Tapering enteroplasty could offer a practical solution to reduce the calibre and preserve intestinal length, leading to early establishment of feeds.
