A Research group headed by Dr.Mohamed Th. Hassan at Center for Imaging and Microscopy (CIM), is recently setting up a time-resolved ultrafast electron microscope (UEM) which is going to be the first of its kind in Egypt and the second in the middle east. they will be quite interested in exploring the ultrafast dynamics and the plasmonic fields of nanostructure such as metallic nanostructure and semiconductor nanowires, and their ultimate goal is to develop the temporal resolution of this technique to be able to image in attosecond time scale ( ), the optical gating technique has a great potential to generate attosecond electron pulses, in this technique, the overlap between the electron pulse and a gating optical pulse at a nanostructure results in the generation of sliced electron pulse with a duration almost identical to the gating optical pulse, since a generation of a laser pulse with attosecond duration is possible, so the electron dynamics can be observed in real-time scale, which leads to the establishment of the attomicroscopy
