Bio

Dr. Mostafa Tawfik is an Assistant Professor at Irrigation and Hydraulics department, Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, has about 15 years of academic and practical experience in hydraulics and environmental engineering, design of coastal structures, numerical modeling, GIS, multimedia applications and computer programming.
M. Tawfik obtained his bachelor (2006) and master degree (2009) from Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University. His master thesis was about "The Use of Submerged Cells in Controlling the Wave Conditions in Coastal Zones". In 2012 he received a scholarship for his Ph.D. at The University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan. He obtained his PhD in 2012 and his thesis was about "Analysis and modeling of long‐term shoreline changes and alongshore sediment characteristics on the Nile Delta Coast".
After completing his Ph.D., he was employed at the Coastal Engineering Lab, School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo for a one year. In 2013 he returned back to Egypt and worked as an Assistant Professor of Harbor and Coastal Engineering at Cairo University. In 2023, Dr. Mostafa has been pormoted to an Associate Professor.   
M. Tawfik is offering consultation services for the industry for public and private sector in the coastal and harbor engineering major inside Egypt and abroad. 
M. Tawfik is interested in research related to wave hydrodynamics and nearshore environment, sediment transport and morphology changes, coastal countermeasures, Integrated coastal zone management and numerical modelling.
