Professor Abdel Rahim earned his bachelor, master degree and PhD in Chemistry from Cairo University. His research covers a wide area of interests including oxide film formation on valve metals and their semiconducting properties, charge transfer kinetics across oxide-covered metal electrodes, conducting polymers and their applications. Fabrication of nano-materials to be used as catalysts for fuel cells applications, as electrochemical sensors for the determination of some organic and biological molecules, as electrodes for the green preparation of organic compounds, and as electrodes for waste water treatment. Another area of research interest is corrosion and corrosion prevention using inhibitors and corrosion control using smart coating.
Professor Abdel Rahim is reviewer for several international journals. He supervised several theses that led to both Master and PhD degrees.
Professor Abdel Rahim served as Vice director of the Micro Analytical Center in Faculty of Science, Cairo University 2010 – 2012.
