Bio

Dr. Karim M. Fawzy El-Sayed, is an associate professor and the clinical director of the periodontology clinics at the Faculty of Dentistry, Cairo University.

He completed his BDS in dentistry in 2002 and in 2006 the Diploma for the Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MFDS-RCSEd). In 2008, he received his MSc in Oral Medicine and Periodontology, from Cairo University and was awarded in 2009 a Grant from the German Academic Exchange Service to complete his PhD at the Christian Albrechts University of Kiel, where he established his stem cells laboratory. In 2010, he developed minimally invasive techniques for the isolation of multipotent oral stem/progenitor cells. Dr. Fawzy El-Sayed obtained his Dr. med. dent and his PhD degrees in 2012. In 2014, he was awarded the IADR-Craniofacial Biology Award and the Egyptian State Incentive Award in Medical Sciences. In 2016, he was awarded the IADR young investigator of the implantology group and obtained his Habilitation degree and ‘Venia Ligend’, in the field of stem cells and periodontal tissue regeneration from the University of Kiel, Germany.
