International Finance

The course provides an overview of international financial economics, developing analytical tools and concepts that can be used to analyze world economic policy debates. It covers the international implications of macroeconomic policies, international monetary arrangements and institutions, and stabilization programs for developing countries. This course is designed to give a working knowledge of the most essential components of international financial management, focusing on international financial markets, institutions, and instruments. The topics we cover include: international financial instruments; determination of spot and forward exchange rates; international hedging and trading strategies; and lessons of recent financial crises for financial management. The class lectures are interactive and include discussion of some current events. The class combines theoretical economic concepts and applied tools(models).This course deals with the current international financial environment, so you should keep in touch with the financial news and events through among others   the Wall street journal, the financial times and the Economist.
