PBW 401 - Highway and Airport Engineering

Semester:
Fall

Course Information

  • The overall objective of this course is to introduce students to principles and concepts of highway geometric and structural design.
  • Highway system (driver, vehicle, and road) and the interaction between them as related to design (geometrically and structurally).
  • Highway location, design standards, horizontal and vertical alignments, and cross-section elements are covered in geometric design.
  • Highway materials, loading systems, pavement stresses, and pavement thickness design methods are covered in structural pavement design.

Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs)
