Heba Nassar, Professor of Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science(FEPS) Cairo University(CU) and former Vice President of Cairo Univeristy. She is the editor in Chief of the Review of Economic and Political Science (REPS) (web of science and Scopus inexed), Vice President of JHASS, Cairo University. She is also the Vice Chair of the Cairo University Alumni and Chair of the Arab Health Economic Platform, Director of the Professional Masters in Health Economics, Faculty of Economics and Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University.
Dr Nassar has received the National Honorary Award for Women in Social Science form the National Academy Scientific Research in 2021.
Heba Nassar was the Chair of the Economic Department. in 2007-2008 and Vice Dean for Community Development and Vice Chair for all academic centers at (FEPS) over the period 2004-2007. Over the period 1998-2005 she was the Director of the Center for Economic and Financial Research and Studies(CEFRS) at FEPS.
Heba Nassar is a policy associate of the Economic Research Forum and a member of the Advisory Board of the Migration Policy Center, a member of the Talloires Network (an international association of institutions committed to strengthening the civic roles and social responsibilities of higher education) since 2008 and a member of the UN working Group on Global Compact for Universities.
She is a board member of the National Alliance of Women, founding member of the Health Policy Forum and a member of the External Relations Committee of the National Council of Women. She was the Consultant of the Economic Committee of the Egyptian Parliamant and a board member of the National Health Organization and the Regulatory Board of the Electricity Holding Company, the Economic Committee of the National Academy for Science and Technology and the Economic Committee of the Higher Council of Universities and a member of the Health Committee of the National Specialized Committee, a member of the Permanent Scientific Committee for Promotion of Professors in Economics in Egypt, a Member of the Global Power Council, a member of the Executive Population Committee at the Ministry of Population and Family and the Ministry of Health.
After teaching at the American University she became a full then part time visiting Research Professor the Social Research Center of the American University in Cairo till 2020. She has also participated as a Peer reviewer at the Qatari National Research Fund since 2010 and a member of the Citizenship Committee at the Higher Council of Culture, member of the Steering Committee of the Research Alliance For Development (RAD)(World Bank Paris).
She was also the National Coordinator and expert for several international and national programs at the International Labour Office in Cairo, the Ministry of Environment, World Food Program, World Health Organization, UNWOMEN, IOM, World Bank, UNIDO UNDP,UNESCWA, Ministry of Population and Ministry of Planning.
Has published several scientific books and published also articles in national and international academic journal and conferences and edited several books in different areas such as labor market, skills development, education, microfinance, MDG’s and SDGs, structural adjustment, small business and microfinance, women economic participation, Human Resource Development, Poverty, Social Protection, Population studies, Privatization, Migration and Trade and social policies.
