How to minimize the harmful effects of medically and veterinary important insects on the surrounding humans and farm animals?  I am interested in the interaction between Medical Entomology, Physiology and Genetics. I participated to declare the role of elimination events (regurgitation/ defecation) in dipteran flies on the transmission of pathogens. Also, I worked on extracting antimicrobial peptides from medically and veterinary important insects. To address these topics I toke an integrative approach and combine molecular and classical genetics, biochemistry and histopathological techniques.

The aim of the upcoming project is to take further step in the role of dipteran flies in pathogen’s transmission through fly feeding, behavior and pathogen dynamics and persistence. The comparison between the capability of Drosophila and house fly to transmit cholera and other types of bacteria are of significant importance in the field of the emergence of infectious diseases.
