Dr. Mehaisen is currently working as a Professor of Poultry Physiology at the Department of Animal Production, Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University, Egypt. He received BSc in Animal Production (1991), and MSc in Animal Breeding (1997) from Cairo University, and a Diploma in Animal Production (2000) from IAMZ-CIHEAM, Spain. He received a Ph.D. in Animal Sciences from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain, in the year 2005. He was awarded the State Prize in Agricultural Sciences in 2014 and the franchise of the first class in 2017.
His research focuses on semen and embryonic cryopreservation techniques. He is interested in research studying developmental and molecular aspects of cultured and frozen embryos in rabbit models to obtain optimum results on these techniques. He also works with another group on factors that can alleviate oxidative stress and inflammation induced by heat stress in poultry species such as quail, turkey and chickens.
