Galal Hassan Galal-Edeen is a Professor of Information Systems Engineering and University Chair of Innovation at Cairo University, Egypt, and a visiting professor at Nile University, Egypt. He is also the Director of Cairo University Innovation Support Office, which he established from scratch. Professor Galal served as a senior innovation policy adviser to the Egyptian government’s Science and Technology Development Fund (STDF), the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research and Technology. Before that, he had spent over 15 years as a full time faculty member in a several of universities in the United Kingdom. He also served as a full professor at the American University in Cairo (AUC) and the British University in Egypt (BUE). He has published over 100 technical and research articles, and organized a variety of international research conferences and events. Prof. Galal-Edeen has consulted and trained widely in the areas information systems, software engineering, usability evaluation, innovation and architecture for clients in the UK, USA, the Middle East and Egypt. He has supervised, to successful completion, eight PhD theses, one of which received the best PhD Award at the faculty level for the academic session 2010-2011, and is currently supervising several research degree dissertations.
Professor Galal-Edeen is on the Editorial Advisory Board of three international journals, and regularly acts as a referee for these and other international publications and conferences. He is also a full professional member of the British Computer Society, the American Computing Machinery (ACM), Internationally Certified Trainer and a Certfied Usability Analyst (CUA).
