Bio

Fawzia Basiony Salem was born on July 4, 1947. Received the B.Sc. degree from Cairo University, Egypt, in 1970, the M.Sc. from Cairo University in 1975, and Ph.D. degree from the Department of Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Salford, U.K, in 1977.
She joined the department of Mechanical Design and Production Engineering at Cairo University since 1970 and promoted to Professor of Machine Design and Engineering Tribology in 1988. During this session she was on leave as research associate at Salford University UK 1975-1977, and associate professor at Girls College, Jeddah, KSA 1982-1986.
She shared in founding the Egyptian Society of Tribology (EGTRIB) in 1987, and the Scientific journal of the Egyptian Society of Tribology in 2002. She was elected the Vice-chairman of the EGTRIB in 1995.
She was appointed as the Director of Tribology and Spare Parts Center at Cairo University in 2001, and Chairperson of the Mechanical Design and Prduction Engineering Department 2005.
She published 28 reviewed articles in world known journals and more than 20 papers in world known conferences and in local and regional journals.
She is a member of the editorial board of the EGTRIB journal,  and reviewer to many world known and regional journals.
Dr Salem is the author of a book on Mechanical Drawings, Chaired the sixth International Tribology Conference "EGTRIB" in 2002,  and Chaired the 9th International Conference on Mechanical Design and Production in 2008.
