Dr. Osama El-Tawil is a Professor of Toxicology and Forensic Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt. Also, he is an Adjunct Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology, USA, School of Medicine, University of Louisville, USA. Dr. El-Tawil is a World Health Organization (WHO) expert and he was selected to be one of WHO experts for updating the global air quality guidelines at Germany 2015. He is also a World Meteorological Organization (WMO) expert and he was selected to be one of WMO Africa and Middle East experts for updating the health impact of airborne dust, Jordan 2015. Recently, Dr El-Tawil has been chosen to be one of E Cost experts (European Cooperation for Science and Technology). He is acting as an expert observer for the management committee of one of the global European grants (International network to promote the use of dust monitoring and forecasting products). Dr. El-Tawil is the initiator and main coordinator for the international cooperation and agreement between University of Louisville, USA (School of Medicine) and Cairo University (Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine) and with Ainshams University (Faculty of Medicine). Also, Dr. El-Tawil awarded from University of Maryland USA (School of Public health) to be a main coordinator and establishing a global graduate class dealing with food defense and security. Dr. El-Tawil was elected chairman of Toxicology and Forensic Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt. He is an active nominated member in many scientific and research committees. He is a Member of National Toxicology Committee, Academy of Scientific Research and technology, Egypt. Member and vice chair for scientific Superior Committee at Supreme Council of the Egyptian Universities for promotion and upgrading all Egyptian Professors and Assistant Professors specialized in Pharmacology, Toxicology and Forensic Medicine. He is a member of animal welfare committee and research ethics committee, faculty of veterinary medicine, Cairo University, Egypt. Dr. El-Tawil is a Certified Reviewer and member of advisory board for governmental and non-governmental authorities and institutions. He is a member of scientific reviewers of ministry of justice for reviewing the governmental toxicological and pollution cases. He is a Member of scientific reviewers of ministry of higher education for reviewing the governmental missions, scholars and fellowships. He is a certified member of Egyptian national authority for quality assurance and accreditation of education, especially higher education institutions. He is an Alexandria bibliotheca expert for environmental and natural resources issues. He is a member of accreditation group of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Cairo University.
Prof Dr. El-Tawil awarded and honored many national and international awards and prizes. He is awarded fellowship as a visiting Scientist at the University of Medicine and Dentistry, New Jersey Medical School, USA; Supported by the Egyptian Ministry of High Education (1995-1997). Awarded two Egyptian national governmental encouragement awards 2001 and 2007. He is considered the first scientist awarded two national encouragement awards. Also, awarded Cairo University encouragement award (2001). Awarded Cairo University Research Grant for screening of the hepatoprotective Egyptian Plants against environmental pollutants. Awarded Cairo University International Scientific World Publication for many years. Dr. El-Tawil also, awarded as International scientist with a valuable publication at Who’s Who in the World 2004 Encyclopedia and 2014 nominated to achieve the ten yean anniversary active scientist. In addition, Dr. El-Tawil awarded many international awards, American Society of Toxicology (SOT) Scientific Speaker Award (2008), International Union of Toxicology Award (2013) and USAID- Fellowship Winner for the year 2013 (Cairo Initiative USAID Program). Dr. El-Tawil awarded the society of risk assessment international award at Denver Colorado, USA, 2015. In addition, Dr. El-Tawil awarded the international food association award 2016. Dr. El-Tawil honored to be one of world experts at United Nations international organization (World Health Organization and World Meteorological Organization). 2016 El-Tawil honored to be one of world-invited speakers at many international conferences. March 2016 invited honor speaker at University of Louisville, KY, USA, August 2016 invited honor speaker at one of biggest international conference for food protection (IAFP 2016) at Saint Louis, MO, USA. Professor Osama El-Tawil is an international Reviewer for many scientific journals and periodicals. Recently, Dr. El-Tawil elected as a vice President for the Pan Africa Environmental Mutagen and Genomic Society located at South Africa. Dr. El-Tawil is considered the leader of in vitro toxicology research area using isolated rat hepatocytes at the Cairo University, Egypt. He started establishment the technique at 1997.
