Mahmoud Abu El Ela is a professor at the Petroleum Engineering Department (Cairo University). Since 1997, he has been a technical consultant in petroleum engineering for national and international companies. Mahmoud holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in petroleum engineering from Cairo University, and a Ph.D. from Curtin University of Technology (Australia). He is a member of the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate and SPE.
Prof. Abu El Ela has extensive research and experience in petroleum engineering (surface and subsurface production operations). He has also project management experiences encompass managing complex projects. Prof. Abu El Ela has participated in several technical studies for the development of several Egyptian oil fields (Shukeir Bay, Hana West, PetroAlam,..etc.). He has developed several design concepts and solved several operation problems for membrane, mercury removal and glycol systems. In addition, he developed an integrated approach for back allocation of natural gas and condensate. He also has wide experiences in reservoir engineering and enhanced oil recovery processes.
Prof. Abu El Ela has offered several short training courses in the area of Artificial Lift Systems, Reservoir Engineering, Reservoir Management, Enhanced Oil Recovery, Petroleum Processing, Production Technology, Gas Processing, Dehydration Operations in Egypt, Yemen, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Tunisia, Nigeria, Turkey and Malaysia.
Prof. Abu El Ela has published and presented several scientific papers in the international journals (Oil & Gas Journal, Oil and Gas European Magazine and SPE Journals) and international conferences (SPE Conferences).
