K. H. Hamed holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Cairo University, Egypt, and a  Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Purdue University, USA. He has 25 years of practical experience in the fields of surface hydrology, stochastic hydrology, time series analysis, and flood frequency analysis. He has long experience in watershed modeling, stochastic reservoir analysis, time series modeling and forecasting, detection of trends and variations due to climatic changes, and stochastic as well as physical rainfall-runoff modeling. He is also the co-author of two textbooks on flood frequency analysis and stationarity analysis of hydrologic and environmental time series published in the USA. Professor Hamed is an Associate Editor of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS) Hydrologic Sciences Journal (HSJ) and a reviewer for a number of prominent international scientific journals, which include Water Resources Research, Journal of Hydrology, Hydrological Sciences Journal, and Climate Research, among others.
