Bio of Yousuf Abo-Amer

Welcome to my home page. My name is Yousuf Abo-Amer. I am an assistant lecturer in the Arabic department at the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University. I got my master’s degree in Arabic Computational Linguistics in May 2014 with Distinction. In my MA thesis, I constructed a computational lexicon for Modern Standard Arabic. This stem-based lexicon was used to build a finite state transducer for the morphological analysis and generation of MSA.
Also, I have a Bachelor's Degree in Arabic Language and Literature from Cairo University, and I was the first in class 2009. Also, I have a Bachelor's Degree in English Language and Literature and a diploma in English translation from Cairo University.
I am interested in Arabic computational linguistics in general and in Arabic computational lexicography and morphology in particular. Also, I am highly knowledgeable with current Arabic morphological analyzers; description, analysis and evaluation. Moreover, I am familiar with state machine; an important model used to deal with knowledge of phonology, morphology and syntax. I am also familiar with foma; a finite state compiler that supports most of the commands and the regular expression syntax in xfst.
