Manar Shalaby is a Ph.D. holder and Assistant Professor of English Language and Linguistics at Cairo University. She currently teaches at the Arab Open University (AOU), Egypt Branch. Her PhD. major is "Teaching Writing Communicatively" and Masters is "The Effect of Syntactic and Lexical Complexity on Reading Comprehension". She published papers on "Interruption and Conversational Gender Power" and "Songs in Vocabulary and Grammar Acquisition". Currently, she is the general course coordinator for the phonetics and introduction to linguistics course across AOU eight branches. She is responsible for developing course calendar, course guide, and supplementary material in addition to preparing continuous assessment tools, midterm and final exams based on the intended learning outcomes. She worked as a consultant and editor in the Ministry of Education- Egypt and as a TOT with STEPS 2 (Canadian Grant). Her present research interests are in Blended Learning, Teaching Approaches, Discourse Analysis and Corpus Linguistics.
