Academic Experience

• Established the Faculty of Urban and Regional Planning at Cairo University

• One of the first who introduced the field of Urban Design in the academic architectural and planning fields (started teaching Urban Design in Cairo University since 1965)

• Supervised and evaluated of about 40 Ph.D. dissertations and about 100 MCP theses

• Contributed in about 30 national and international conferences, since 1980

• Member of several Egyptian academic communities of the Supreme Council of Universities, the Supreme Council of Culture, and the Academy of Science and Technology

Professional Experience:

• Chairman and Member of about 40 juries for national architectural and planning competitions

• Member of several steering committees for study of national urban projects

• Member of the board of directors for three institutions of housing, urban development, and research in Egypt

• Practical experience in design and preparation of plans in the fields of architecture, urban design, and urban planning since 1955, important projects include:

- Development plans for North Sinai, North West Coast, and the New Valley in Egypt; and El-Agal Valley in Libya;

- Development plans for Damanhour, Kafr El-Dawar, and Sohag and Zagazig metropolitan areas, Egypt;

- New Town Development plans of 10th of Ramadan, New Ameriyah, and the Aluminum Complex in Nagah Hammadi, Egypt;

- Design of some satellite towns in Greater Cairo:  Al Amal, Al Rehab, Madinaty, and New Heliopolis;

- Tourist villages in Sinai and North West Coast, Egypt.
