Ass. Prof. Sherif A. Sami is a teaching staff member in Systems and Biomedical Eng. Dept., Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University. After receiving his Ph.D. in “Medical image processing and analysis” in 2000, he was responsible for conducting courses such as “Electrical Measurements” and “Computer Vision” in undergraduate level, and “Advanced Topics” in graduate level, and supervised many Graduation Projects and participated in supervision of M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees and published many conference and Journal research papers. In 2000, he became a member of “Center of Advanced Software and Biomedical Engineering Center, CASBEC” as a technical consultant and team leader, and promoted till he became Center Deputy Manager. In 2004 and till 2014, he became the director of “Medical Equipment Calibration Lab, MECL”, the first accredited lab in testing and evaluating the performance of medical equipment in Egypt and Middle East. During this period he lead the technical and managerial aspects of the lab and served a very wide customer base included Educational, Public and Private Healthcare facilities. He also became a technical consultant for many customers such as Ministry of Health, Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Industry and participated in setting the National Standards of Medical Equipment in Egypt. Since 2014 and till August 2019, Dr. Sherif Sami became the head of Systems and Biomedical Eng. Dept. – The Higher Institute of Engineering – El Shorouk, and participated in accreditation of the department by NAQAEE. In September 2019, he became the Head of Strategic Planning Unit, The Higher Institute of Engineering – El Shorouk till January 2022.
In February 2022, Dr. Sherif Sami returned to Systems & Biomedical Eng. Dept. - Faculty of Engineering - Cairo University.
