Dr. Bakr is an associate professor at the department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University. She holds a Ph.D., in Urban Planning and Policy Development and a Master of City and Regional Planning (MCRP) from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and a Master of Science in Advanced Architectural Studies from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology,.USA. In addition to teaching urban planning, housing and urban design courses, Dr. Bakr has more than 20 years of professional consultancy experience in the fields of environmental management, sustainable urban development, and housing and informal area development.
Co-lead author with Dr. Ahmed Al Kholi, of the Comprehensive Report "Housing Indicators and the State of Built Environment of Seven Egyptian Cities (2009-2013) under contract with GOPP/UNDP/CIDA and CMHC. Tasks included preparation of the Comparative Analyses of Housing Indicators in the seven cities.
