Professor Emeritus of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology
As one of Egypt’s leading voices in radiology, Dr Ashraf Selim continues to redefine the outcome of breast cancer early detection, diagnosis and management in the country. Since completing his degree in Cairo University he has become an established authority in the field and a renowned professor and lecturer at the prestigious establishment.
As both a professor and the former Head of Radiology Department at Cairo University he is one of the chief experts of Women’s Imaging in Egypt; he introduced mammography in Cairo University and was in charge of the first private clinic to provide patients with mammograms (Cairo Scan). His stellar academic record and passion for radiology have translated to multiple accolades in the medical arena. He is the associate editor of the Egyptian Journal of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, the reviewer of the International Journal of Paleopathology and has earned recognition for the highest score of scientific publications of Cairo University during the year 2010. He is also a consultant for the Ministry of Health’s National Screening Project for the Early Detection of Breast Cancer and a member of the Egyptian National Steering Committee Of Women’s Health, as well as a board member of the Egyptian Society of Radiology.
Dr Selim has excellent managerial skills; with 30 years of experience at Cairo Radiology Center (Cairo Scan) where he was appointed Executive director in 2003. He is also one of the founders and former CEO of Cairo Diagnostic Imaging Centers, former board member of the Alexandria and Tanta Radiology Centers and the Founder and President of the Egyptian Society of Women’s Health. He has earned his Executive Management Diploma from AUC in 2007.
Using his wealth of experience and continued research in breast cancer prevention and treatment as well as his excellent managerial experience, he is now the acting Chairman of Seha Scan, and is set to change the way medical practice takes place in Egypt. With decades of medical expertise and strategic and executive knowledge he plans to take Women’s Medicine to the next level by understanding the things that matter to them; efficiency, state of the art techniques and most importantly expert knowledge. He has been chosen to head the Radiology Division at the Presidential Initiative for Women’s Health from 2019 till now.
