Mohamed Asaad was born in Cairo in 1945. He received his M.Sc. degree (summa cum laude) from Eötvös Lorand University, Budapest, Hungary, in 1972. He received his Ph.D. degree and his D.Sc. degree from Hungarian Academy of Science, Budapest, in 1976 and 1997, respectively. From 1976 to 1981, Asaad was a Lecturer at Cairo University. From 1982 to 1987, he was an Associate Professor at Cairo University. Since 1987, he has been a Professor of pure mathematics (algebra) at Cairo University. Asaad has been a Member of the Egyptian Academy of Science and Technology. He was the Chairman of the Egyptian Universities Promotion Committee in Mathematics (October 2008–Febraury 2013). He is one of the Editorial Board Members of the Journal of Egyptian Mathematical Society. His field of specialization is finite groups. He is acting as a Referee for well-known journals. He is a Member of the Mathematics Center of Excellency for Algebra and its Applications (MECAA) at King Abdulaziz University (KAU). He obtained the following prizes: Lotfi's Prize (1982) from the Egyptian Academy of Science and Technology, Egyptian State Prize for Mathematics (1991) from the Egyptian Academy of Science and Technology, the State Excellency Prize for Basic Sciences (2004) from the Egyptian Academy of Science and Technology.
