Research Interests of Prof Dr Amr Ahmed Badr

The research interests of Prof Dr Amr Badr are three fold: Intelligent Systems and machine learning, Bioinformatics, and medical imaging. The first branch covers topics such as evolutionary computing, neural networks, fuzzy logic, ant systems and artificial immune systems. Machine learning research comprises support vector machines and kernel machines with their applications in different fields such as medicine, vision, bioinformatics and chemoinformatics. The second branch namely bioinformatics, includes topics such as genomics, proteomics, microarrays, spectrometry, protein protein interaction with special emphasis on immunomics and bioinformatics in vaccinology. Special interests are the applications of intelligent systems and machine learning techniques in bioinformatics. The third branch namely medical imaging focuses on the application of intelligent systems and machine learning in the analysis, diagnosis and prognosis of radiology scans as a replacement to the traditional image processing techniques. Other topics of interest are fields of natural computing such as membrane computing (P-systems).
