Current research includes the study and characterization of glass fiber reinforced polyester composites under repeated impact loading, and comparing its behaviour to typical conventional materials, in order to asses its use for impact applications such as car intrusion bars and bumpers. Work in progress inculdes a development of a 3D finite element model and simulation of materials behaviour under repeated impacts, and validating the model using experimental results.
