Dr. Samy Alsirafy is a Professor of Clinical Oncology, Kasr Al-Ainy School of Medicine, Cairo University, Egypt and the Head of the Palliative Medicine Unit – Kasr Al-Ainy Center of Clinical Oncology & Nuclear Medicine (NEMROCK).

He is a graduate of Kasr Al-Ainy School of Medicine, Cairo University where he completed his training in oncology and was awarded the Doctorate in Radiation Oncology in 2003. He was certified by the American Board of Hospice & Palliative Medicine in 2005 and was awarded the Diploma of Palliative Medicine from Cardiff University, UK in 2007.

Dr. Alsirafy pioneered palliative medicine in the Egyptian Universities in 2008 by establishing the first university hospital-based palliative medicine unit in Egypt. In the field of palliative care, he authored/co-authored more than 50 scientific publications in peer reviewed journals and presented extensively in international and national scientific meetings. As a regional expert in palliative care, Dr. Alsirafy served as a temporary advisor to the World Health Organization.
