Research skills and interests:

I have a strong interest in the molecular mechanisms and interactions that occur during infections. During my postgraduate study at the University of Nottingham and my postdoc research at INRA, I studied both the innate and adaptive immune responses of the avian host to a range of Salmonella serovars at the cellular and molecular levels. This has given me a wide range of laboratory skills, including cell culture, bacteriology, genetics and molecular biology, immunological techniques and histology and immunohistochemical staining. I also have excellent transferable skills, including good team working, communication, motivation, leadership and problem solving skills.

Research positions:

  • Nov 2012-Jan 2013: Postdoc Research Fellow, INRA, France.
  • 2007-2011: Postgraduate (PhD) Research Student in the School of Veterinary Medicine and Science, University of Nottingham, UK.

Teaching positions:

  • 2023-present: Professor of  Poultry Diseases, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Cairo University, Egypt.
  • 2018-2023: Assistant Professor of  Poultry Diseases, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Cairo University, Egypt.
  • 2011-2018: Lecturer of Poultry Diseases, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Cairo University, Egypt.
  • 2004-2007: An Assistant Lecturer.  Department of Poultry Diseases, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Cairo University, Egypt.
