Bio

Ahmed M. Khalil (GSMIEE'13, MIEE'16, SMIEE'19) received a B.Sc. degree (with highest Honours) and a M.Sc. degree both in Electrical Engineering from Cairo University in 2006 and 2009 respectively, and a PhD degree in Energy Systems from University of Toronto in 2016. He has ten+ years' experience in power systems analysis practice, education, and learning. He worked as a Research and Teaching Assistant at Cairo University and the University of Toronto from September 2006 to May 2016. During this period, he was doing research on power systems analysis in areas related to optimal allocation of FACTS devices, voltage stability, transient stability and large-scale integration of wind power. Currently, Ahmed is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Energy Systems Group, University of Toronto, where he is doing research on control of wind power plants to enhance the dynamics of power systems, impact of HVDC grids on power system dynamics and coherency phenomena in interconnected power systems. Dr. Ahmed is a registered professional engineer in the provinces of Ontario and British Columbia in Canada.
