U.S. Scholarships


U.S.-Egypt Higher Education Initiative

Through $250 million initiative, the U.S. Government will provide up to 1,900 university scholarships and exchanges to Egyptians to study in Egypt and the United States and will support up to 20 higher education partnerships to strengthen research and exchanges between Egyptian and U.S. universities.

The U.S. Fulbright Program to Egypt

Award Profile: The U.S. Student Program to Egypt is currently suspended for the 2015-2016 academic year. Potential applicants for 2016-2017 should discuss the status of the U.S. Fulbright Program to Egypt with IIE before applying.  A decision regarding the status may not be available prior to the 2016-2017 deadline.

20 Postdoc Fellowships at Freie Universität Berlin

The Dahlem Research School of the freie Universität Berlin offers 20 Postdoc Fellowships.

The “Postdoc International” POINT research fellowship program – co-financed by the German Excellence Initiative and the Marie Curie Program of the European Commission – provides funding for outstanding postdoctoral researchers from all disciplines to conduct their own research project at Freie Universität Berlin.

Canadian Scholarships for Postgraduate Students

IDRC Research Awards for Canadian and Developing Countries’ Students, 2015


Research award recipients will undertake a one-year paid program of research on the topic they submitted when competing for the award. They normally start in January and must be completed by the end of December. The awards will include CA$39,000-CA$45,000 (salary for one-year, paid internship). Awardees are considered to be full-time employees of IDRC. Application deadline is August 6, 2014.

Unique Program (MSc + PhD) offered by JAPAN

There is a unique program for 9 international students from Asia, Africa and the Pacific Rim (AAP), shared by the three universities in JAPAN. This program is a 5-year continuous education composed of master's and doctoral courses. Student will be awarded degrees of master's (in the first 2 years) and doctoral (in the following 3 years) after completion of all requirements.

The German Egyptian Research Short term Scholarship GERSS is a program jointly funded by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) and the German Academic Exchange Service, Bonn (DAAD) in order to finance short term scholarships for young Egyptian scientists to travel to Germany. The target groups of the program are researchers enrolled in MSc, PhD programs and young Post-Doctoral candidates. The scholarships may be awarded for a period from three to six months.
