Dr Waleed Fawzy A. Marei is a veterinarian graduated in 2001 from Cairo University, Egypt. He started his academic career in Theriogenology at faculty of veterinary medicine in 2002 and obtained his MSc degree in 2005. Then he joined the Reproduction research group at the Royal Veterinary College, London, UK, where he investigated the effects of fatty acids on oocyte quality and early embryo development and was awarded his PhD degree in 2010. He then pursued post-doctoral research in the same group, working on early embryo development and implantation. Currently, he is a lecturer of theriogenology at Cairo University. He recieved a number of national and international awards and his research is published in top rank journal in his field and frequently cited. His research interests are clinical applications of assisted reproductive technologies and feed additives to improve reproductive performance in farm animals. Currently his research focuses on the link between maternal metabolism and fertility.
