Prof. Taymour Mostafa is an emeritus Professor of "Andrology, Sexology & STIs" at the University of Cairo, Egypt. He was the former director of The New Kasr Al-Aini Teaching Hospital in Cairo, Egypt. He graduated from the secondary school for advanced students in 1972 and completed his degree at the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt in 1978. He served as a resident in the Andrology, Sexology & STIs Department at Cairo University from 1980 to 1983, followed by roles as assistant lecturer from 1983 to 1986, Lecturer from 1986 to 1991, assistant professor from 1991 to 1998, and has been a professor since 1998. He has authored more than 200 local and international publications in Andrology, Sexology, Reproduction & STIs, including book chapters in many international books. His scientific points of interest include reproduction, male infertility, apoptosis, stem cells, varicocele, erectile dysfunction, oxidative stress, sexual health, and pollution. He is a member of the International Society of Andrology (ISA), the International Society of Sexual Medicine (ISSM), and the Middle East Society of Sexual Medicine (MESSM), and served as Vice-President of the Egyptian Society of Andrology (ESA-elect) before becoming President of ESA (elect) in 2013. He has received several awards, including the ISSM/Pfizer congress celebration award (2005), the Jean Francois Gentiese Award for the best basic research paper in 2006 (Cairo) and 2008 (Brussels) from ISSM, the Cairo University Prize for Excellence in Medical Sciences in 2008, the Cairo University Prize for Discretionary in Medical Sciences in 2009, and the Cairo University Prize for Distinguished Service in 2013. He was also awarded the State Prize for Excellence in Medical Sciences in 2011 and the State Prize for Discretionary in Medical Sciences in 2017. He is a reviewer for several international journals in reproduction and men's health, with a total of 4,617 Scopus citations and an h-index of 37. His Google Scholar citations total 7,091, with an h-index of 50. He obtained a patent from the Egyptian Patent Office in 1999 for a biochemical substance that controls sperm motility and has supervised 75 theses in reproductive and sexual sciences at various universities. He directed the University Supreme Council's Egypt promotion committee for Dermatology and Andrology. He is the Assistant Editor of the Human Andrology journal, a member of the editorial board of BMC Urology journal, a member of the editorial board of the Andrology Open Access Journal, and the Academic Editor of the British Journal of Medicine, Medical Research, as well as a member of the editorial board of the Sexual Health - Remedy Open Access journal. In 2015, the Scientific Research Academy of Egypt chose him as a fellow and a member of the national medical research committee. In 2016, he was selected for the editorial board of the Annals of the Academy of Romanian Scientists Series on Biological Sciences (Editura AOSR) and was a consultant for the Sudanese Society of Andrology. As a public service, he was the head of the Medical Committee of the Al-Ahly Sports Club from 2013 to 2016. In 2019, he was awarded the State Medal of Science and Arts, first class. He has been listed among the top 2% of scientists worldwide by Stanford University in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025, respectively. He is a senior CORE member of the Global Andrology Forum (GAF).
