Biography

Dr. Nelly Abulata is a visionary Leader in Higher Education and Healthcare with a keen sense for strategy and forward thinking. She Possesses 24 years of diverse experience in top notch Public/ Private, Academic, Clinical, Management, Training and Research settings in cross-cultural environments. She has a track record of consistent achievements, well proven leadership skills, commitment to excellence armed with strong work ethics and detail orientation, she is well known for her solid analytical skills and powerful interpersonal and communication skills. Currently she is a Professor and Consultant at Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine- Cairo University, a Management Consultant for Higher Education and Healthcare in addition to being a Women’s Leadership Development Coach. 

Dr. Abulata graduated in 2000 from Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine – Cairo University (with High Honors). After a three year Clinical and Chemical Pathology Residency she obtained a Master degree in 2005 (with High Honors) and a Doctorate Degree of Clinical and Chemical Pathology (Hematopathology) in 2008 both from Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine-Cairo University (Egypt). She then served as a Lecturer, then as an Assistant Professor in 2013 and to a Professor in 2019. This was coupled with a Diploma in Total Quality Management for Healthcare (DTQMH) from AUC (Egypt) in 2006 and a Masters of International Business Administration (MBA) from ESLSCA Business School (France) in 2011 both complemented her Medical Background.

She has extensive experience in Hematopathology across Kasr Al-Ainy University Hospitals (6,000 beds) with vast expertise in diagnosis of Hematological Disorders (Anemia, Coagulation disorders and Leukemias). She is highly skilled in the preparation, designing, development & assessment of Courses and Instructional Modules in accordance to standards of educations including curricular and assessment blueprinting & OSPE. She is an Examiner on the Board for the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Programs of Clinical and Chemical Pathology Department. She supervised more than 10 Master and Doctorate Theses, has been involved in several fruitful Research Team Projects and published more than 20 papers in peer reviewed Journals. 

Dr. Abulata has a significant experience in the Area of Management of Healthcare/Education. She served as the Management Support and Development Officer for the Learning and Resource Center for Clinical and Surgical Skills Training at Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine,  the youngest Secretary General of the Council of the Clinical and Chemical Pathology Department,-Cairo University, the Management Consultant on major reform and development projects in Cairo University (e.g. New NCI Outpatient Clinic, Organizational development and restructuring of the CLINCHEM Department, Start-up plan of 185 Emergency and Burn Hospital), the Initiator and Moderator of the CLINCHEM Annual Departmental Conference, the Partnership Moderator in the Training Program in Regenerative Medicine by University of Toronto held at Cairo University, the Country Committee Expert and Mentor for Health in ALWANE Project by Women Campaign International, an active member of the Quality Assurance and Improvement Committee and a key Member on Accreditation Committees including JCI. She is also recognized as an active volunteer for Women’s Leadership Coaching/ Training delivering training to a variety of audience starting from young team members to high calibers.

Her Professional Memberships include: Member of the Editorial Board of the Arab Journal of Gastroenterology, Member of the Honorary Board of the Regenerative and Bionic Medicine Network (RBMN), Member of the Egyptian Society of Laboratory Medicine (ESLM), the Egyptian Society of Hematology & Research (ESHR), the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the Heathcare Information Mananagement System Association (HIMSS), Kasr ElAini Friends’ Association (KEFA) and the Association for Women’s Total and Advanced Development (AWTAD).  She is also a Reviewer in the Gene Journal, Comparative Clinical Pathology Journal, Arab Journal of Gastroenterology, Genetics Research International Journal and African Health Sciences Journal. 

She speaks English, French besides her mother tongue Arabic.
