Mahmoud Mahmoud received the B.S. degree in biomedical engineering from faculty of engineering, Cairo University, 2006. After graduation, he worked as a research assistant in Cairo University in 2007 and Nile University in 2008. He obtained his master degree in Bioinformatics from Cairo University in 2009.In fall 2009, Mahmoud joined Johns Hopkins University to pursue his PhD in Computer Science. He started working for center of medical informatics in 2011 as a summer intern. His research focus is medical informatics and medical images retrieval. He was awarded the travel investigator award in 2012 from Society of Imaging Informatics in Medicine. He interned in Google in 2011. Mahmoud received his PhD in Computer science from whiting School of Engineering, Johns Hopkins University in 2016. Currently Mahmoud is an associate professor in Systems and Biomedical Engineering Department, Cairo University
