Audits:

 

Audit Title: Computerized Tomography requests for acute abdominal admissions.


Objectives: - To evaluate the number of CT requests for patients suffering of acute abdominal pain with inconclusive plain abdominal X-rays in the appropriate clinical contest within the surgical department.
I was responsible for collection of the data and interpretation of the results. The audit study was in East kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust.
The Audit included 47 patients, and showed that in 85 % of the patients the CT had an impact on the decision regarding the management plan of patients presented with acute abdomen.

 

Audit title: Thromboprophylaxis in General Surgery.


Objectives: To assess compliance of using new drug chart
To assess compliance of completing VTE risk assessment form in new drug chart
To assess appropriate prescription of thromboprophylaxis
Outcome: Old drug chart still being used
Separate assessment form not attached
Compliance – unsatisfactory (21%)
Received prophylaxis without assessment performed – (64%)
Contraindication poorly documented – (4%)
