Dr. Hassen Taher Dorrah received his B. Sc. Degree in Electrical Engineering from Cairo University (Cairo, Egypt) in 1968, and the M. Sc. and Ph. D. Degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Calgary, (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) in 1972 and 1975 respectively. From 1975 till 1976, he was a Post-Doctoral Fellow with the University of New Brunswick (Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada). He then joined in 1977 Cairo University, where he worked since 1987 till now as a full Professor of Electrical Engineering.

From 2007 to 2008, he served as its Head of the Department of Electric Power and Machines Engineering. He participated from 1977 till 1995 in several US Science and Technology-based research programs jointly with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Boston, Mass.), Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, Ohio), and Oakland University (Rochester Michigan). In 1996, he established SDA Engineering Canada Inc. (Toronto, Ontario, Canada), where he is presently serving as its President.
